 Lake Side Apartment “This home is in a great neighborhood and is very close to Hot Springs. The hot tub is great for couples and the view from both there and the porch is stunning. We enjoyed sipping our coffee in the morning looking over the lake. We went in December so it was a bit to cold for us to use the kayaks, but the private pier looked very nice to fish or swim around during warmer months. We will definitely come back one day especially since this is such a great deal! I’ve stayed in plenty of other places costing twice as much a night that this one that don’t hold a candle to it. There is even a fire pit (with firewood) and a small grill for you to use! The hosts are also very welcoming and are great people. The room is in the lower section of their house so please respect the room and backyard if you choose to stay here. You will not regret it!”

Deer Swimming Across the entire lake

One the guest at one of our Airbnb shot this video of a VERY cold Deer after a BRISK 24 degree morning. This was Wednsday the 13th of November. Burrrr. This is beside the tree where our Bald Eagle roost.

On a very cold morning here in Hot Springs Village one our guest filmed this 6 point buck swimming across the entire lake.
You can find this and more on our sister page Hot Springs Village Venues. Therefore, as you can see in the closeup below he was pretty cold. Deer are known to do this, but generally in warmer weather, it was an unusually cold period for early November.
Temperatures have come back to normal (60 highs and 40 lows) since then. 2 things are of real notice.. 1. He swam the WIDTH of the entire lake. Lake Desoto is 186 acres and all of our Airbnb rentals are located on Lake Desoto, very close to the WayPoint Marina. It is approximately 3/4 of a mile across the lake at this point.

Therefore, a Deer swimming across entire lake is pretty rare and is even more odd on a REALLY cool morning. As you can tell we still had a lot of our beautiful fall weather here in beautiful hot springs village. Truly we do see Deer Swimming Across the entire lake but it is more common for them to cut across a corner or such and generally in the summer when i cooling dip would feel a lot better. Additionally, deer are very easily spooked and don’t like being exposed in the open (middle of lake desoto) for very long .. much less in the broad daylight.

The listing of this place just doesn’t do it justice. We were so surprised as soon as we walked in! The view is gorgeous and the home is so cute. Anything we could have possibly needed was available at the house. Dennis had super quick responses the entire time and provided spot on advice for places to visit in the area.

Our trip was just amazing and I already wish we were back! This is definitely the best Airbnb experience I’ve had so far. It was my sisters first and she says she will never go back to hotels! The fast responses and advice were on point and anything we could’ve needed was available at the house. Thank you so much, Dennis!

When our host Dennis came over to welcome us and talked to us a bit, its funny all the teenagers, loved him and was like “I could listen to him talk all day.” We thought one of our teenagers would stay in his room and play video games the whole trip and we were so pleasantly surprised that he wanted to take advantage of everything there was to do there. We boated and tubed, kayaked, used the hot tub, swam, played games, enjoyed the scenery both at our condo as well as we went hiking and cooked every meal at the house but one. The kitchen was fully equipped. Dennis even brought us an air mattress. We are a blended family and this is our first family vacation and everyone bonded and got to know each other well. This was perfect for our family!!!! Thanks to Dennis for being so super awesome and accommodating!!!!

Thanks so much, you are very kind. We love seeing families make great memories together. Seems as if HSV is a time warp sort of place where daily distractions get lost and you get to connect with each other. As i mentioned to you, we have had guest tell us that their kids said they prefer HSV to Disney World. It’s not that we are AMAZING .. but HSV can allow you to “see” each other … glad you were able to stay and hope we can see you again soon.

Back in early 2019 Dennis sent an email to the staff of Planet Money. After seeing a 600 sq foot concrete block home with dead boat, dead truck and waist high weeds in San Jose listed for $1.6 million.,Comparing that to the BARGAINS in Hot Springs Village, AR, Dennis could not help but ask… Are Cities Over Rated?
Dennis Simpson was interviewed twice for over two hours and the show was then edited to just 17 minutes, posted and heard by millions of podcast listeners.
Shortly afterwards, NPR’s flagship program, All Things Considered picked up the program (now edited to 3:17min) and broadcast it to over 37.7 million listeners all over the world.

He recently sent an email to the show noting the amazing discrepancies between Bay Area real estate and “fly over” land.

Top 5 Tips for Great Airbnb Stay

Needless to say Airbnb is one of the “greatest disruptions” in this millennium. With the upcoming Initial Public Offering of Airbnb, we are seeing the monumental change in the accommodation / home sharing economy market. VRBO has been around nearly twice as long as Airbnb but is just a fraction the size of Airbnb, which is growing my an estimated 20 million guest every year. (see below)

We are PROFOUNDLY grateful for the blessings of being able host and help ppl share some peace and quiet that we have in SPADES at HSV.

1. LOAD THE APP!! I know .. you have too many apps already. PLEASE load the app. Most new users don’t think they should load the app, they will just reply when they are texted .. the reverse text message are blocked and the Caller ID is generic portal from Airbnb. Save the heartburn, LOAD THE APP.

2. Select Superhost when possible. SuperHost are reviewed EVERY quarter and must meet rigorous standards

They (we) have seen it all. 3:30 AM check-in’s, Everything from glowing Honeymooners to crying bereaved and grieving travelers staying over for a funeral. Superhost KNOW the area and know the things you want to do. Money well spent and the best insurance of a great stay.

3. Read the LOCATION.. the maps are many times wrong. Do NOT trust solely the map. One home near us uses photos of the lake and the MAP shows they are (correctly) NEAR the lake but the impression is that they are ON the lake.

They are not.

4. READ the reviews. There is no greater indicator of your future trip than the history of others. Read closely. Some ppl code things to be nice. While others got out of the wrong side of the bed.

5. Leave a review. The same programmers who helped to set up the Buyer / Seller ratings systems fro Ebay wrote the Airbnb rating module. Be frank, but not brutal. Share the things you’d like to know if you had not yet stayed there.
